Royal Performance from Prince
Intercontinental Football Academy (IFA) of New England alumni Adam Prince made history on Saturday, becoming the first player in Bowdoin College men's soccer history to score a hat-trick in NCAA play.
The sophomore from Wayland, MA struck on the 22nd, 26th and 64th minute as the Polar Bears defeated Lyon College 7-2 in the first round of the NCAA DIII tournament. Prince has started all 17 matches for Bowdoin this season, scoring five times as the Maine college went 10-3-3, finishing nine in the final NPI rankings. Fellow IFA alumni Arthur Dos Santos is also playing his part, having appeared in fourteen matches this season.
Following the victory over Lyon College, Bowdoin defeated U-Mass Boston in the round of 32 to advance to the sweet sixteen where they will face Connecticut College at Tufts University. There will be more IFA representation in that clash with Matt Vogel (Freshman) and Charlie Riegel (Sophomore) on the Camels roster. Tufts will face Messiah in the other sectional contest. Saturday's winners will play on Sunday for a trip to the Division III Final Four. IFA alum David Marotta, Ellis Denby and Griffin Bone are rostered for the Jumbos.
On the other side of the bracket, Williams College also booked their spot in the last 32 with a win over Scranton. Forward Lorcan Mitchell will be looking to contribute as the Ephs face off against St. Olaf College this weekend.
