IFA Braced for Biggest Spring Season Yet
Over 200 IFA New England teams will kick off their spring campaigns over the coming weeks in what is the club’s biggest season ever. IFA teams will compete across six leagues with representation from all eight IFA regions: Greater Boston, Metro West, Western MA, Central, Greater Lowell, South Coast, South Shore, and Metro North as well as our partner clubs Canton Soccer Academy and FC Juventud.
Over 160 of those teams across boys and girls divisions will participate in the New England Club Soccer League (NECSL), where Regional players from U8 through U18 form the foundation of IFA's developmental pathway. These teams offer a competitive and supportive environment focused on player growth, local league play, and selective tournament experiences, helping players build the skills and mindset to advance within the IFA system.
Founded in 2020, the NECSL brings together over 40 competitive clubs across five New England states with a mission to provide a transparent and merit-based competitive platform for the clubs of New England.
In addition to the NECSL, there are a number of additional competitive environments that IFA teams will be represented in this spring. IFA Elite Development Squad (EDS) Boys teams operating out of the Boston, Central, South Shore and West regions will play in the NE EDP division of the USYS National League. These teams will aim to qualify annually for the MYSA State Cup and USYS Eastern Regional Championships. For players U15 and older, EDS includes East Coast travel to prestigious college showcase tournaments. This spring, 18 EDS teams are competing in the National League.
On the girls side, IFA will field six teams in the Girls Academy Aspire League from U13 through U19 whilst the IFA West region will have eight teams compete in the Development Player League (DPL) from U11 through U19.
Six boys Pre-MLS teams compete in the Northeast Academy League (NAL), while 12 MLS NEXT teams (Homegrown and Academy Development) sides round out the top of the pathway.
The spring calendar does not stop at league play. IFA will host its Memorial Day Invitational in Lancaster, MA from May 23-25, with over 1,000 teams expected from New England and beyond.
