IFA U15 Boys to Compete at 2026 Generation adidas Cup
Intercontinental Football Academy of New England (IFA) has been invited to compete in the 2026 Generation adidas Cup, the largest edition of the tournament to date. Held March 27 through April 4 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, this year's event features 88 teams from 14 countries and four continents. IFA becomes the first non-MLS club from Massachusetts to participate in the tournament.
IFA's U15 MLS NEXT Homegrown squad will share the stage with international clubs including FC Barcelona, FC Bayern, PSV, Valencia CF and RSC Anderlecht at the U15 level. The tournament is widely considered the premier international youth competition in the country.

The invitation follows a standout run at the Generation adidas Cup qualifiers during MLS NEXT Fest in Mesa, Arizona last December. Matt Hardiman's side defeated Atletico Santa Rosa (2-0), Total Futbol Academy (3-2) and Miami Futbol Academy (3-0) before edging Florida powerhouse Weston FC on penalties in the semifinal. IFA fell in the final via shootout after a scoreless 60 minutes, finishing the tournament undefeated in regulation with just two goals conceded across five matches.
The 2011 age group continues to build on that momentum. Currently 10-0-1 in league play, the squad has already qualified for MLS NEXT Flex and remains unbeaten across the entire season. The group was ranked No. 1 in the Northeast by MLS NEXT in the final 2025 power rankings, and twelve members of the current squad have been with IFA since the U10 level.
"Competing in Elite Competitions is a pillar of our development model, and there's no bigger stage at this age group than the Generation adidas Cup," said Mark Spalding, IFA Technical Director. "To be the first non-MLS club from Massachusetts to earn an invitation is a proud moment for the program and a testament to the work these boys have put in."
IFA has been drawn into Group J alongside three MLS academy sides. The group stage schedule:
Friday, March 27 at 11:30 a.m: vs. Orlando City SC
Saturday, March 28 at 12:00 p.m: vs. Seattle Sounders FC
Sunday, March 29 at 11:30 a.m: vs. Minnesota United FC
Twenty matches will be streamed live on the MLS YouTube page, including both championship finals.
