IFA EDS Central Accepted Into National Academy League

Intercontinental Football Academy of New England (IFA) is pleased to announce that its EDS Central boys program has been accepted into the New England Conference of the National Academy League (NAL), effective the 2026/2027 season.

The NAL is one of the country's fastest-growing competitive platforms for elite youth soccer, with 95 member clubs and 684 teams competing across six age groups from U13 to U19. The league operates on a conference-based structure with regional play, interconference crossover events in Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, and Pennsylvania, and a national championship. Teams train a minimum of three times per week, and all matches follow a professional-standard format with USSF-licensed coaching staff required at every level.

"Having our IFA Central teams accepted into the National Academy League is a tremendous step forward for our program in Central Massachusetts," said Matt Hardiman, General Manager. "This opportunity is a direct reflection of the hard work, commitment, and daily standards shown by our players and staff. Over the past few years, our Central program has continued to grow with a clear focus on development, professionalism, and creating the right environment for ambitious players."

IFA Central serves players across Central Massachusetts, with home training bases in Marlborough and Hopkinton. The EDS program fields boys and girls teams from U11 to U18, competing in national tournaments, the New England EDP, MYSA State Cup, and Eastern Regionals. For players at U15 and above, the program includes East Coast college showcases with direct exposure to collegiate recruiters. Acceptance into the NAL now adds a structured national league pathway on top of that existing tournament schedule.

The NAL's technical standards emphasize meaningful development at every age group, recommending that all players start in at least 25% of official matches, with U13-U15 players participating in 50% of available minutes per week. Unlimited substitutions with re-entry are permitted across all age groups, and match lengths range from 70-minute games at U13 to full 90-minute matches at U16-U19.

Hardiman continued: "The NAL platform provides a fantastic next step for these groups, offering the level of competition and exposure that will challenge our players and accelerate their growth. As a club, we remain committed to providing players across the state with the very best development environments and competitive platforms possible. This milestone is not only a reward for the work that has already been done, but also an exciting step towards what we continue to build within the IFA pathway."
