Pre-Thanksgiving Invitational a Record Success
November 25th, 2025; This past weekend witnessed over 10,000 players compete in the fifth edition of the IFA Pre-Thanksgiving Invitational. Representing 67 different clubs and eight states, matches were played across 52 field locations in Massachusetts. It was the biggest, and best, edition of the tournament so far.
Launched in 2021, the event has grown to be a staple of the Northeast tournament calendar, providing the perfect ending to the Fall season for younger teams and an opportunity for older teams to get back together following the high school season.
There was high-profile participation from further afield in the shape of Cedar Stars (NJ), Hartford Athletic Youth Academy (CT), New York Red Bulls (NY), Buffalo Pro Soccer Academy (NY) Nordic SC (VT) and the Football Academy (NJ). This was supplemented by a host of local clubs, including NEFC, Stars of MA, Seacoast United, Rhode Island Surf and Boston Bolts, to name a few ensuring the highest level of competition and professionalism.
“On behalf of everyone at IFA New England, we would like to thank all the participants who made this weekend such a special one for all involved,” said IFA New England General Manager Matt Hardiman. ”Special mention goes to all the officials, volunteers, field partners, and medical staff, without whom an event of such scale is not possible. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next November,” added Hardiman.
Next up, on the IFA tournament slate is the 2026 Memorial Day Cup.. One of the largest events of the season, the competition hosted over 900 teams in 2025, including the prestigious Swedish youth academy of Hammarby Fotboll. Matches will be held throughout the state, including the Massachusetts Youth Soccer complex in Lancaster.
